Joe Ann Banks-Williams

March 1, 1953 — February 7, 2021

Joe Ann Banks Williams was born March 1, 1953, in Lillie, LA, to the late Ira and Mildred Banks, who were prominent members of the Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Calion, AR. Joe Ann accepted Christ at an early age.  She was a devoted member and a Deaconess of the Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Joe Ann attended Smith, Washington, and Norphlet School but completed her education through the Job Corps of McKinney, TX.  Having a love for people, she begins her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. In her late twenties, she started working for Hudson Memorial Nursing Home of Eldorado, AR. She retired from Hudson after working 39 years of dedication.

Due to her fight with being diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, she triumphantly overcame her faith and the support of her family, church family, and friends. During her battle, she became an advocate of the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure 5k marathon for two years. Joe Ann was also elected as an Alderman for the city of Calion, Arkansas, where she served two years on the council. Despite her brush with cancer, she insisted on going back into the workforce; she started working as a private sitter for CompleteHome Care Agency of Eldorado, AR. She was still currently working there until her death.
Joe Ann was family-oriented; her love and devotion for family and friends were undeniable, especially for her children. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her siblings and children, and especially her Grands. Joe Ann transitioned to her final resting place on February 7, 2021, at Medical Center of South Arkansas of Eldorado, AR.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two brothers IraBanks Jr. Willie Lee Banks, and one sister Patricia Ross Riley.

Her loving memories will be cherished by her caring husband Richard Williams, who shared 36 years of matrimony. One son Alfred (Rolanda)Banks of Conway, AR, two daughters Melinda (Eric), Moore of Eldorado, AR, Regina(Kenneth), Mayweather of Calion, AR. One step-daughter Connie (Troy)Purifoy of Pine Bluff, AR. Nine grandchildren and four great-grand. Five sisters Gloria (John) Whitney of Haynesville, LA, Etha (Leon)Burns of Eldorado AR, Gwendolyn Banks of Calion AR, Linda (Rudolph) Washington of Lawrenceville, Ga Vickie Davis of Calion, AR. Two brothers Carl Banks of Arlington, TX, Robert Banks of Little Rock, AR. Special friend Barbara Johnson of Little Rock, AR, and a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who miss her dearly.
