Willie Tanner

Willie Albert Tanner peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on September 3, 2026, at Timberlane Nursing and Rehabilitation while under the compassionate care of Life Touch Hospice.

Born to the late Mae Lizzie Walker and the late Calvin Tanner, November 30, 1951, in Portland, Oregon.

Willie lived in several states including Las Vegas, Nevada, Portland Oregon, Chicago, IL and El Dorado, AR.

Prior to moving to El Dorado, Willie and Deloris visited for Thanksgiving and upon retiring relocated permanently to the south.

After moving to El Dorado, Willie was baptized at the Plum Street Church of Christ where he attended until his health failed.

Willie enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a food service supervisor, stationed in Oakland, CA and Okinawa, Japan being discharged with an honorable discharge. Also, while serving he received the National Defense Service Medal. He was a Master Mason in good standing with the Free and Ancient Modern Masons of Chicago, Illinois, where his seat of office was that of Junior Deacon.

Willie was known for being well dressed and neat all the time. He was very fond of his family and especially his great nieces and nephews. He made time for everyone that came in contact with him. His nicknames from family as called by Angie were Old School, Phillis (Tone) called him O.G. and Tonaisha called him Chi-Town Player.

He is preceded in death by two sisters Mable Clark and Sally Tanner, also two brothers A.G. Jimmerson and Loyd Tanner.

Survivors left to cherish his memories are his children, Mallah LaQundus Tanner, Candie Marie Tanner and Antwan Seamon; four sisters Lois Nation, Geraldine Tanner, Darlene Tanner, Cynthia Simpson; two brothers Calvin (Johnny) Tanner, Leslie Johnson (Deborah); nine grandchildren. A close friend Earnestine Howell-Strahan. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
