Mr. Van Lee Samuel passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock, AR. He was born January 1, 1938, to the union of Hamp Samuel and Emily Aaron Samuel, and was the fourth of five children. He married the love of his life Rosie McAlphin on November 26, 1958, to this union two children were born, Mary Joyce Lee and Carolyn Samuel Carter. Later four children in love were added to the family; Rhonda Samuel, Kera (Ryan) Bullard, Cedric (Lark) Samuel, and Ricky (Hanah) Middleton. They were Foster parents for 10 years, and they chose to add these beautiful children to the family. Many children came into our lives throughout the years, and as a result of that our family was thoroughly enriched. He started working at Calion Lumber Company at an early age with his dad Mr. Hamp Samuel who instilled in him a good work ethic, along with his brother Isaac. He later became Supervisor at Calion Lumber Company years later and worked alongside his nephew. He retired after 40 years of service. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Isaac Lee, Lillie Mae, Ester Mae, and daughter Carolyn Ann. He is survived by daughters, Mary Lee, Rhonda Louise Samuel, Kera (Ryan) Bullard, brothers, Cedric (Lark) Samuel, Ricky (Hanah) Middleton, Sister, Ruby Jean Hatter, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Pubic Visitation 1 hour before the service Friday, February 21, 2020, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Services will be on Friday, February 21, 2020, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at 3:00p.m.Interment will be at Community Cemetery in Junction City under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
