Tre'Ajani (Tre) Latrell Barnes, born on March 31, 1993, didn't just live life-he orchestrated it entirely on his own terms for 33 magnificent years, shining as brightly and fiercely as a diamond. He carried himself with a slender, GQ-worthy, model-like build destined for fame and flashed a Hollywood smile framed by his signature dimples.
From birth, Tre demanded center stage and was spoiled completely rotten. He was the undisputed King of Tantrums, famously walking around with those "stankin' legs," twirling his ducktail, and throwing fits on the floor that no one could match. He was everybody's baby and refused to share the spotlight with anyone-not even his sister. He truly lived up to his name: Tre'Ajani, the Prince, just like his favorite movie, Coming to America.
Tre's natural-born star quality only grew as he got older. At Linda Verde Elementary School, he displayed his immense talent by playing the clarinet, filling the halls with music and demonstrating an early love for the arts. He also won the Chess Club tournament, showcasing his strategic mind and masterful skills. At Endeavour Middle School, he won a rock-climbing competition, defeating his classmates with determination and confidence.
By the time he arrived at Lancaster High School, his star power was undeniable. He was the ultimate life of the party, bringing an unmatched sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. He was a fiercely loyal friend, a true lover of adventure, and just mischievous enough to keep everyone on their toes. If there was fun to be had, Tre was leading the way.
After graduating from high school, Tre took his natural star quality and fierce independence to the next level. He attended Antelope Valley College and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, actively pursuing his passion and career as a clothing designer. He possessed a true visionary eye, constantly working to bring his unique, blinged-out style and creative concepts to life.
His dreams and career as a designer expanded his horizons, exposing him to the vibrant energy and fashion of major cities. He brought his talent to the bright lights of Los Angeles, the glitz of Las Vegas, and the rich culture of New Orleans. He had already set his sights on his next destination-Miami.
Tre's life and spirit leave us with a powerful truth about what a diamond truly symbolizes. A diamond is not born beautiful; it is forged in total darkness under unimaginable heat and pressure. Tre faced many challenges throughout his life, but instead of breaking, he allowed adversity to polish him into something brilliant. His life demonstrated that true independence and strength come from enduring the weight of the world and still choosing to shine. He showed us that no matter how intense life's pressures become, our inner light can never be crushed.
Above all, Tre was anchored in his faith and walked through every trial guided by his deep and unwavering Christian belief.
Tre was a true example of fierce loyalty and a tender heart. He loved hard-with an intensity that was impossible to mistake. He never let a moment pass without telling those he loved exactly how much they meant to him, making sure his people always knew their worth.
He was the ultimate protector of the women in his life, especially his mother, and a true brother's brother to the men in his life, offering an unbreakable bond of loyalty and respect. Tre was also an extraordinary giver. If you mentioned that you liked something, he would do everything he could to give it to you. Had his dream of becoming wealthy fully come to fruition, he truly would have bought the world for everyone he loved.
While he poured sweet and comforting words into those he cherished, if you crossed him, his sharp wit and even sharper words would quickly put you back in your place.
Tre will be reunited with his grandparents, Lillie Ruth Moore Edmondson, Jimmie Ann Barnes, and Van Ora Edmondson; and his great-grandparents, Isaac and Ora Mae Greer, and John and Terell Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted parents, LaTara and Andre Brown of Lancaster, California, and his father, Reginald Barnes of El Dorado, Arkansas. He also leaves his beloved siblings: Tiara Barnes, Anaya Brown, Tamara Barnes, Warsonski Nathan, Pavianna Quinine (Deon), Jasmine Murphy, Anjahnae Stephens (Sinatra), Armentta McGraw (Marcus), Andrea Brown, Arrian Brown, and bonus sister Jaida Pettway.
He further leaves his cherished great-grandmother, Alfriza Moore, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Tre leaves behind a legacy of being unapologetically yourself. As a devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and unforgettable friend, Tre loved his family above all else. A sudden illness took him from us far too soon, but like a diamond, his indomitable spirit can never be broken or dimmed.
You will be deeply missed, Hollywood, but your light will shine forever in the presence of the Savior.
To everyone who knew and loved him, remember his final blueprint: Always be unapologetically yourself. Be like Tre, and keep shining bright like a diamond in the sky.
