Tequila Smith was born June 16, 1958, in Eldorado, Arkansas, to Lewis C and Emma Jean Cooper. Tequila shared a special bond with her grandparents, Jewel and Evelyn Hawthrone. Tequila graduated from Eldorado High School in 1976. She attended Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, and graduated with her bachelor's degree from SAU in Magnolia, AR. She was a member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church. Tequila worked at F.A.C.T. Inc. for 24 years. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and granddaughter, Savannah.
Tequila was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis C. and Emma Jean Cooper; grandparents, Jewel & Evelyn Hawthorne; and two sisters, Carolyn J. Cooper Montgomery and Tonya A. Cooper. She departed this life on October 9, 2025, at South Arkansas Regional Hospital in Eldorado, Arkansas.
Tequila's memories will be forever cherished by her loving husband, Artist J Smith, son Saxon Freeman, granddaughter Savannah Freeman, sister Sesan Williams, and brother Quentin Cooper Sr. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, a special nephew, Kendal Dykes, and a special niece, Beverly Smith, extended family, and friends.
