Mrs. Shirley Sylvia Campbell-Napoleon was born February 12, 1936, in Blytheville, Arkansas the daughter of William and Mossie Campbell. Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas. She received her formal education at Harrison High School in Blytheville. After leaving her parent’s home she then attended A. M. & N College/University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff where she graduated with a degree in physical education. She met Joe in Pine Bluff and they were married on September 10, 1956 She worked for the Department of Human Services where she serviced the citizens of Union County for 35 years. She was a faithful servant and member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher of Sis. Lola Bullock Sunday School Class for several years. She was also a member of the Joy Community Bible Class. Her favorite hobbies included 1000 piece puzzles, word searches, and bingo.
Mrs. Napoleon is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Napoleon, Sr., parents William and Mossie Campbell; children, Gregory Napoleon, William Napoleon, Raymond Napoleon, Angelique Napoleon, and Joseph Napoleon Jr.; one sister Ida Jean Simpson and six brothers: Robert, Melvin, Leroy, Lewis, Auprey Lee, and Andrew Lee Campbell.
Mrs. Napoleon leaves to honor and cherish her memory four daughters and two sons: Yvonne Denise Bragg of Memphis, TN, Victor R. Napoleon of Dallas, TX, Jacqueline D. F. Napoleon of Cordova, TN, Yvette M.E. Napoleon of El Dorado, AR Wilbert Lewis Napoleon of Eastvale, CA (W.L.) (Yvonne), Josephine Sylvia Jean Napoleon of Bartlett, TN, Grandchildren: Constance E. Napoleon, Shaun J., and Shedric M. Bragg, (twins) Victor J. F. Napoleon, Cameron C. Napoleon, Chase Napoleon, Trinity Napoleon, Tristan Mercadel, Danyelle Evonne Davis, (Christopher) Maya Yvette and Matthew Jerimiah Adams, (twins) LaKytra Napoleon, Shelton Conner, DeOminique Napoleon, Trisha Napoleon, Latoyia Napoleon; great-grandchildren, Sylvia E. Cottrell, Desmond S. Gains, Joshua M. Bragg, Zoe I. Bragg, Isaiah M. Bragg, Lennox A. Adams, and a wonderful host of nieces and nephews. Her life will be remembered and cherished by her loving brother Reverend Wilbert Campbell.
