Shalonda Michelle Richmond Gatson was the 4th child born to Reverend Larry and Barbara Richmond on March 13, 1976, in Gary, Indiana. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Caledonia, where she developed her passion for singing for the Lord. Shalonda was presently a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas where she was a member of the choir.
Shalonda, “Londi” as she was called by her family was the life of the party. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, baking cakes, participating in 5K walks, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and catching the latest movie releases with her son and supporting him in all of his endeavors from academics to football to track. She was a 1994 graduate of Junction City High School and attended South Arkansas Community College in El Dorado.
In June of 1997, Shalonda married Donnie La’Carlos Gatson and to this union, one son was born, Donnie La’Carlos Gatson, II. She was employed at Chase Bank for seven years.
Shalonda’s memories will be forever cherished by “her boys” Carlos Gatson, her husband of 22 years, and her son, CJ Gatson, both of Arlington, Texas; her parents Reverend Larry and Barbara Richmond of El Dorado, Arkansas; three sisters Rosalind Richmond Davis and Shawntala Richmond both of Sherwood, Arkansas; Amy Richmond RedCloud (Lionell) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother Lawrence Richmond of North Little Rock, Arkansas; godbrother Jamario Bell Junction City, Arkansas; her parents in law Eddie and Jerrie Malone of El Dorado, Arkansas; brother in law Derrick (Valarie) Gatson of Shreveport, Louisiana; three nieces Taylor Gatson, Shania Davis, and Amaya RedCloud; six nephews Cameron Gatson, Donovan Davis, David RedCloud, Kylen RedCloud, Dominic RedCloud, and Micah RedCloud and of host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends.
