The Legacy of Roy Lee "Punction Junction" Pumphrey

Roy Lee accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

As a teenager, Roy drove trucks for his father, Hezekiah, hauling pulpwood. However, trucking was not his only passion. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, riding four-wheelers, and hosting unforgettable family gatherings and parties. His larger-than-life personality and generous spirit made every gathering one to remember.

Throughout the years, Roy drove for several companies in the area. In 1994, he met Pamela, the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful life, welcomed their first child, and, in 1999, established P & P Trucking. In 2000, they expanded the business by founding R & P Logging, where they also welcomed their second child. After 17 successful years in business, they decided to retire from the logging industry. Roy continued driving for companies owned by David Mann, Corey Dixon, and Matt Jerry until he retired at the age of 62. Retirement allowed him to spend more time with his family and friends, enjoying the people and activities he loved most.

Roy Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Arcie Rea Pumphrey and Hezekiah Pumphrey; his brother, Hessie "Chunk" Pumphrey; his sister, Bobby Pumphrey; and his mother-in-law, Emogene Mason.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his devoted wife of 30 years, Pamela J. Pumphrey; his children, Danue L. Pumphrey, Roy Lee Pumphrey, Jr., Arcie Williams, Noel Jackson, and Shane Pumphrey; his nine grandchildren, Danue, Camerion (Jessica), Corey, Courtlin, Camden, Ted, Jeremiah, Lailyn, and Deszren; his great-granddaughter, Imani; his bonus great-granddaughter, Alaia; his nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Roy will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
