Rosie Hicks

February 6, 1951 — April 25, 2021

Sister Rosie Lee Hicks was born February 6, 1951, in Emerson, Arkansas, to Sercy and Annie Mae Mason.

She departed this life on Saturday, April 25, 2021, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, El Dorado, Arkansas.

Rosie was a proud member and graduate of the Washington High School Class of 1969.  Upon entering the workforce, she spent over 20 years in education and child development, including many years at Kiddie Kastle Daycare, Old Union School District, and most recently at Young Dreamerz Daycare.  She also spent many years serving families through her profession as a Licensed Funeral Director with Sims Mortuary in El Dorado.

Her community service included a long, active involvement in the El Dorado Self Culture Club.  She was a dutiful long-serving member of the Prayer Line Ministry and served in many ways as a Zion Watch Baptist Church member.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Larry Hicks on July 26, 1969.  To this union, four children were born: Lawrence, Eric, Cliff, and Chenelle.

Rosie and Larry were married for fifty-one glorious years.

Rosie Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Sercy & Annie Mae Mason; a sister, Annie B. Oliver; a brother, Matthew Mason; and one grandchild, Malcolm Hicks.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Larry Hicks; one sister, Geraldine Thompson, El Dorado, AR; three sons, Lawrence (Elizabeth) Hicks, Little Rock, AR; Eric Hicks, Alexandria, LA; Clifton (Rolunda) Hicks, Nolensville, TN; one daughter, Latrese Chenelle Hicks, El Dorado, AR; 11 grandchildren, Marquina Gilliam-Hicks, Killeen, TX; Bryce Hicks, Oakland, CA; Halle Buggs, Ruston, LA; Tyler (Tori) Hicks, Killeen, TX; Jonathan Hicks, El Dorado, AR; Brendan Hicks, Fort Worth, TX; Hannah Shipp, El Dorado, AR; Jakobe Shipp, El Dorado, AR; Kendall Hicks, Nolensville, TN; Joshua Hicks, Nolensville, TN; Gabrielle Robinson, El Dorado, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
