Rodell Walker

April 3, 1947 — November 19, 2020

Rodell Walker was born April 3, 1947, in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was the son of Hubert and Selma Walker and was affectionately known by his family as “Big Man.” He was born the eldest twin and his twin’s name is Odell Walker, nicknamed “Lil Man.”

Rodell graduated from Washington High School in 1966 and joined the US Air Force immediately following graduation. He served his country for four years and was stationed in Germany. During this time, he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and worked on planes. He was able to utilize the skills obtained in the service to further his career working for the Budd Company in Gary, Indiana and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until retirement. He was known for his great sense of humor.

Rodell was married to Jessie F. Allen Walker of El Dorado for 40 years. To this union, three sons, Andre, Stephen, and Ryan, were born.

His loving memories will be cherished by his three sons, Rodell Andre Walker, Stephen Dion Walker (Mary) of Gary, Indiana, and Ryan Allen Walker (Crystal) of Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also survived by his sister Lueteene Walker Daniels (Bill), and four brothers Odell Walker, Herman Walker (Sandra), of Chicago, Illinois, Freddie Walker (Francine) of Dallas, Texas, and David Walker (Cassie) of Atlanta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Selma Walker, wife Jessie Walker, three sisters Ruby Walker (Herbert), Betty Walker, and Mary Walker, and four brothers Grady Walker, JD Walker, James Walker (Jean), and Leon Walker.

Rodell was a loving grandfather to four grandchildren, Andre Rodell Walker, Diondra Lee Walker, Ryan Allen Walker, Jr., and Aiyana Callie-Michelle Walker. He also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
