Robert Earl Shelton

November 22, 1952 — July 17, 2020

On November 22, 1952, God blessed Harvey P. Shelton and Kally William – Shelton with a baby boy. They called him Robert Earl Shelton.

Robert accepted Christ at a very early age at Curry Chapel A.M.E. Robert later united with Shady Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jimmy Miller.

He was a 1971 graduate of Strong High School in Strong, Arkansas. Robert was a hard-working family man. He began a long career with various employers. He was a retired city and county worker.

Robert enjoyed racing, buying, and working on cars. Monday thru Friday, Robert could be found hanging out at Champagnolle Landing. He especially enjoyed talking on his CB handle “29”. Robert also had a love for good music. His favorite song was “Moms Apple Pie”: By Tyrone Davis.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey and Kally Shelton. Three brothers: Parnell, Ronald, and Danny Shelton. Robert departed this life on Friday, July 17, 2020, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

On February 5, 1972, Robert married the love of his life Annie Luevenia Shutes-Shelton. To this union four, beautiful and blessed children were born. Robert and Luevenia had a blissful union until God called his soul mate home on October 1, 2016.

He leaves his cherished memories to his children: Janice Shelton-Davis (Fred) of El Dorado, Ar. Robert Shelton Jr. of North Little Rock, Ar. Ronald Shelton of El Dorado, Ar. and Vernon Shutes of Memphis, Tn. One sister: Lawanda Shelton-Hicks (Johnny) of Strong, Ar. One brother: Gary Bernard Shelton (April) of El Dorado, Ar.  14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and cousins who loved him dearly.
