Rev. Sylvester "Syl" McHenry

Rev. Sylvester “Syl” McHenry was born February 9, 1960 in El Dorado, AR.  He was the son of Betty Jean McHenry and Joshua Lark; and raised by LJ & Roberta Frazier.

He departed his life on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at UAMS in Little Rock, AR.  He was a 1978 graduate of El Dorado High School and a member of Hosanna Baptist Church.

Syl was employed by SADCCF for 6 years.  He loved to fish, play golf and most of all he loved to serve the Lord.  On June 18, 2017, he was licensed to preach.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Johnson and Joseph Austin; one son, Sylvester McHenry Jr.

His memories will be cherished by his wife, Renee McHenry of El Dorado, AR; two sons, Darris L. McHenry of El Dorado, AR and Jalen J. McHenry of El Dorado, AR and one daughter, Shakira S. McHenry of El Dorado, AR; one stepson, Antonio Carroll of El Dorado, AR; one step daughter, LaTosha Brown of El Dorado, AR; four sisters, Jacqulin McHenry of El Dorado, AR, Colena Austin of Camden, AR, Sonya Bunn of Camden, AR, and Mechelle Lark of Oakland, California; one brother ,Joshua Lark, Jr., of Feirfield, California; five grandchildren, Nah’shun McHenry, Darris L. McHenry Jr., Jaraelen J. McHenry, Nevaeh J. McHenry, Jazari S. McHenry, and a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that will truly miss him.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darris McHenry, Jalen McHenry, Labaron Moore, Antonio Carroll, Trendale Jackson, Marsaveion Kidd, Rodney Allen, Derrieus Steward, Omar Allen, Bryan Kentle, Rasheed Shakur and Rashaun Walters. Active pallbearers El Dorado High School Class of 1978.

Public Visitation will be Friday, August 17, 2018 from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at St. John Baptist Church.
