Quiston Fairley I

May 29, 1984 — July 24, 2023

El Dorado, Ark

During Memorial Day weekend in the year 1984, then Doris Jean Finley and Howard J. Fairley, Sr. anticipated the arrival of their youngest child, Quiston Rae’Shawn Fairley I.  Quiston I was born a few hours after Memorial Day on Tuesday, May 29th.  He was the baby of the bunch and was Doris’s pride and joy.  No matter the situation, Doris would say, “Maybe so, but that’s my baby.”  On Monday, July 24, 2023, in His infinite wisdom and through His divine power, The Lord called Quiston I Home; where he shall be at rest. Without a doubt, Doris welcomed her baby, and all is well!

At a young age Quiston I attended Douglas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he received his Christian foundation.  Later, he fellowshipped with Divine Faith Fellowship Full Gospel Baptist Church youth ministry and Community Church of God in Christ.

Affectionately known as “Pig,” Quiston I was known for his big heart and his willingness to do anything that he could do to help others.  Many can also attest to his straightforward persona.  Quiston I was a graduate of El Dorado High School,  Class of 2002, and played football. After high school, he went on to pursue technical studies and apprenticeship experiences culminating in an advanced trade in cement masonry at Cass Job Corps in the Ozarks.  Additionally, he earned his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) from Pine Bluff Truck Driving School.  Quiston I also attended South Arkansas Community College to study entrepreneurship. He recently worked for the City of El Dorado. Interestingly, through all the ups and downs of the franchise over the years, he remained a die-hard Raiders Football fan and would almost bet on a Super Bowl winning season every year.

Quiston I is predeceased by his maternal grandparents: Cubie Finley, Sr. and Agnes Pierce Finley; his paternal grandparents: Randolf and Mary Fairley; his father: Howard J. Fairley, Sr. and his beloved mother: Mrs. Doris Jean Finley-Brice.  He is also predeceased by his caregiver, confidant, and favorite aunt: Mrs. Jeanette Finley Kilgore.

He is survived by his only child: Quiston Rae’Shawn Fairley, II of El Dorado, AR; his sister: Mariah Fairley-Flemons (Delvin Sr.) of El Dorado, AR; his brother: Dr. Anwar H. Fairley of Sherwood, AR; his niece: Jeanasia Richmond of El Dorado, AR ; his sister-in-love: Christina Maxfield Fairley of El Dorado, AR; his stepfather: Mr. Elgin Brice of El Dorado, AR; special friend: Deja Glover of El Dorado, AR, along with a host of other relatives and close friends who will miss his outgoing personality and interacting with him.
