Paul Basscomb Harris was born in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Rosa Lee Jennings Green and Paul Basscomb. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He graduated from Central High School in 1968 and later attended Oakland University, where he studied music. His love for music was inherited from his father, who was a renowned big band leader and musician known for performing throughout the United States.

Paul developed a passion for playing the trumpet and shared his musical talents at weddings, parties, and many other special occasions. Paul love to play chess, domino's, and family time was his favorite. He was a humble spirited person. He was very happy and made the life of the party. He was a person you would never forget if you met him. His favorite scripture was Psalms 121. As his mother's only child, he enjoyed a loving, rich, and fulfilling childhood. His life was filled with joy, and he was surrounded by the love of family and friends. His mother provided him with unconditional love, creating a bond that was truly extraordinary.

Five years ago, Paul began a difficult battle with his health. Despite the challenges he faced, he continued to persevere with strength and determination. He peacefully departed this life and was reunited with his beloved mother, father, and son, Paul James Harris.

Paul leaves to cherish his precious memory his sons, William Harris (Uhura) and Donnell Harris; his beloved daughter, Kristie Harris Owens; his grandsons, Deontae, Devan, and Terel; his granddaughters, Sy'Viceeaa Hall, Shakayla King, Ja'Myah Kilgore and Santara Manning; his great-grandchildren, Juston "JR," Trae, Aaliyah, Taniyia, Jayceeon, Jai'Marvion, Ja'Chiyah and Mason; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
