Patricia Cargile

November 13, 1955 — June 8, 2026

Patricia Ann Cargile was born on November 13, 1955, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Jimmy Lee Cargile and Dorothy Jean Thigpen-Cargile. She departed this life on June 8, 2026, at the age of 70.

Affectionately known as "Pat," she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended church with her family. She was the second oldest of ten children and often cared for her younger siblings by cooking and cleaning while her parents worked.

Pat attended school in El Dorado and worked in the healthcare field as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.). She was known for providing compassionate and attentive care to her patients, demonstrating genuine concern for their well-being.

In the early 1980s, she moved to California to be with her mother and siblings. She attended Southwest College in Los Angeles, California, where she studied automotive mechanics. Pat took great pride in maintaining and repairing her own vehicles. She was independent, adventurous, free-spirited, and always up for a challenge. She had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and cherished country living, where they could roam freely.

One of her favorite pastimes was taking long drives along rural backroads while listening to Tyrone Davis and Johnnie Taylor. She found joy in music, family gatherings, and celebrations. Later in life, she traded the blues for gospel music and devoted herself fully to her faith.

Patricia joined First Corinthians C.B.C. in Los Angeles, where she received her license to preach and fervently studied God's Word. Missionary Cargile later founded a small church in Los Angeles, California, where she faithfully ministered to others. She continued preaching and serving God after returning to El Dorado.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Lee and Dorothy Jean Cargile; her two sons, Joe Dean Moody Jr. and Eric Lee Johnson; her brother, Melvin Joe Cargile; her sisters, Minnie Cargile and Murdice Watkins; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and her nephews, Bobby Johnson-Cooper and Floyd Davidson Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Melita Steward-Myles (Darrell); her son, Walter Fernando Steward (Carrie); her grandchildren, Joseph Millsap, Eric Johnson Jr., Joe Dean Steward, Christian Eric Steward, Trenton Myles, Isabella Melita Steward, Trevor Myles, and Haralambos "eMan" Steward; her siblings, Charles Cargile, Dorothy Cargile-Russell (late Printle), Nellie Faye Cargile-Cooper (late Kenneth), Robert Earl Cargile (Cynthia), Shirley Ann Cargile (Freddie), Jimmy D. Cargile (Shenina), Marilyn Cargile-Payne (Commett), Damien Gill, Curtis Watkins, Jimmy Lee Cargile Jr., Veronica Cargile, Ceola Cargile-McCree (Jeremy), and Lee Cargile; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family extends a special thank-you to her extended family at The Springs for their kind and compassionate care.
