Otis Lee Sherman

April 19, 1944 — June 25, 2021

Otis Lee Sherman was born April 19, 1944, in Union, AR, to the late Jessie Lee Sherman and Minnie Mae Ganter Cook.  Otis lived in El Dorado, AR, with his devoted wife of 57-years, the late Mae Evelyn Sherman.  Through their union, they were blessed with three children: Darrell, Gereron, and Zondra.

After graduating in 1962 from Washington High School in El Dorado, AR, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corps.

Otis accepted Christ at a very young age; he later joined St Vestal CME Church.  He joined his wife and attended Evergreen Baptist Church.

He had a passion for planting the most beautiful collards, greens, and other healthy vegetables in his backyard; he loved to communicate with others about sports and go fishing.  He was indeed a faithful El Dorado Wildcat, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Dallas Cowboys fan.  Otis enjoyed sitting on his front porch with his wife, relaxing.

Those that knew him will never forget his strong work ethic with over 30 years of Manufacturing Plant work experience at Cooper Tire, Lion Oil, and Polyethlene Containers, Inc., and he was a longtime employee of Larry’s Rexall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lee Sherman and Minnie Mae Ganter Cook, and his wife Mae Evelyn Sherman, aunt Florence Ganter Cobb, cousins CleVester Cobb Williams, Freddie Murphy, and Willie A. Cobb Jr.

Otis leaves to cherish his memory: his loving sons Darrell Sherman of Dallas, TX, Gereron Sherman Mesquite, TX; Daughter Zondra Sherman-McCune of Allen, TX; Sister-In-Law Wanda R. Henry of Houston, TX; Three granddaughters, Cortney Sherman, Essence Sherman, Serenity Sherman; One grandson, Zachery McCune; and one great-granddaughter, Jada Beavers. Cousins Patsy Staggers of Little Rock, AR; Tony Cobb of El Dorado, AR; Jackie Jackson of El Dorado, AR; and Sharon Modica of El Dorado, AR and Alfred Hert of Los Angeles, CA and special friends Joel Stewart, Willie T. Levingston, James Armstrong, and James W. Williams.
