Nilon Naron Moore, Jr., better known as Ronnie, was the third of five children born to the late Nilon Moore, Sr., and Annie Dell Snowden-Moore on April 30, 1956, in El Dorado, Arkansas. He accepted Christ at the New Bethel Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Rev. J. F. Kelley. Later in life, he united with the First Baptist Church-Cordell under the leadership of his youngest brother, Rev. Pierce L. Moore, where he served in multiple roles, including the Bread of Life Food Pantry and Clothing Ministry, member of the Male Chorus, Van Driver, and in other capacities where his help was needed.
Nilon was a member of the El Dorado High School Class of 1974. A segment of his class was known as "To Live Crew". Beyond high school, he attended Southern Arkansas University-El Dorado Branch and DeVry Institute of Technology in Dallas, Texas, where he and his brother, Tyrous, were roommates.
He was a dedicated employee of the Murphy Oil Corporation for several years before accepting a position with International Paper Company in Bastrop, Louisiana. During his time in Bastrop, he met and married the late Vanessa Cotton, and to this union, there were no children born.
Those who were close to him will tell you that he was a dedicated friend who would give you his last. Ronnie had a laid-back but contagious personality, while also being the life of the party. He had great culinary and creative skills. If you ever ate food that he prepared, you would always come back for more. Ronnie had such an eye for decorating, which included upholstering and restoring old furniture, and was an excellent painter.
He was always neat, well-groomed, and definitely well-dressed.
On September 13, 2025, at 6:35 p.m., God called him into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nilon Moore, Sr., and Annie Dell Snowden-Moore, his eldest sister, Marilyn Joyce Moore-Hughey, his paternal grand-parents, Pierce James Moore and Jessie Mae Edwards Moore-Cornwell, and his maternal grand-parents, Jesse J. Snowden and Mahalia Briggs-Snowden.
He leaves his cherished memories to his siblings, Beverly J. Moore-Scott (Tyree) of St. Louis, Missouri, and Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Tyrous L. Moore of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Pierce L. Moore (Sharon) of El Dorado, Arkansas. His legacy will also be cherished by his nephews and nieces, whom he dearly loved. Also, his passing is mourned by his aunts, cousins, and many friends.
