Monica “Susie” Michelle Barnes, 54, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Courtyard Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where she lived for many years. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Courtyard Gardens for loving and caring for Monica as if she were family.

Monica was born on June 9, 1964 (15 minutes before her twin brother, Rodney), the daughter of the late Lee L. and Lucinda Barnes in El Dorado, Arkansas. Monica was a very kind and gentle soul; she loved listening to music, watching television, holding her stuffed animals, and spending time around others.

She was predeceased by her mother, Lucinda Barnes in 1971, her father, Lee L. Barnes, Sr. in 2001; and her stepsister, Bobbie Sams in 2004.

She is survived by her: loving brothers, Lee L. Barnes, Jr. of Strong, Arkansas, Rodney Barnes of Springfield, Virginia, Ramonda “Tony” Barnes of Jackson, Michigan, and James Barnes of El Dorado; stepsisters, Dorothy Jean Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada, Shirley Rochelle of El Dorado, and Gloria Faye Lipston of Alameda, California; stepbrother, Jonah Johnson of El Dorado; nephew, Carl Williams, Jr. of Antioch, California; her nieces, Evelyn Carroll, Sheree Johnson and Sherleste Ellis of El Dorado, Camille Crockett of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Jasmine Barnes and Candance Barnes of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jamie Barnes of Springfield, Virginia; a host of other cousins, nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law Earline Barnes of Strong, Arkansas, and Margaret Barnes of Springfield, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 3rd, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Courtyard Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center at 2701 Twin Rivers Drive in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Cremation services are provided by Sims Mortuary. Sign the guestbook online at www.simsmortuary.com
