Melody Meeks

Melody Crystal Meeks AKA "Mel" or "Nae Nae" was born on April 5th of 1977 in Seaside, CA to Kathlyn Hunter Meeks and Vernon Meeks Jr. Sadly, on September 13,2025, she passed away!

At an early age, she began attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, where she would often go with her mother and sisters. As an adult, she studied to become a member!

Melody attended El Dorado High School and was a part of the Class of 1995, and later in life, she attended South Arkansas Community College.

Throughout life, she began her work history, and 3 jobs that many knew her from were Chick-A-Dilly, The Moore Home, and Hillsboro Nursing home.

Melody lived a beautiful, bubbly, high spirited life where she NEVER met a stranger! Cooking, talking on the phone for hours, and crafting were her hobbies. She was also very family and friend oriented; most would call her "the glue to the family," but there was nothing more that she loved than her 2 beautiful daughters, besides her grandchildren, they were her world!!

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Marian Butler and Charlie Hunter of Chicago, IL, and paternal grandfather Vernon Meeks Sr. of Eldorado, AR. Her aunt Sonya Meeks Johnson and 1 special cousin, Christopher Meeks-Jones

She leaves to cherish her parents, Vernon (Vivian) Meeks Jr., and Kathlyn Hunter Meeks. Children: Sharneecia (Antonio)Gatewood and Chloe Gatewood. Grandchildren: Jacovi Furlow, Calvin Henry, Princess Miller, Caysen Miller, and Hannah Watkins. Maternal grandmother Margie Hunter, paternal grandmother Albertine "Dolly" Meeks. Three sisters, Lewonna Meeks, Chiffon Meeks, and Arilia Brown. Two brothers, Vernon (Lilly), Meeks III and Delmond Brown. Two nieces, Alicia Trotter and Dreka Hall. Seven nephews: Keenan Meeks, Hunter Meeks, McKenzie Meeks, Tyler Hart, Zane Meeks, Conner Meeks, and Keenyn Trotter. Two great nephews, Kaydence and Kacey Meeks. Special Aunts Janet, Joyce, Roberta, and Shericia. Two Special uncles: Anthony (Arnitria) Meeks and Marvin (Maggie) Meeks. Special cousins Dedrick, Nardy, Jeffery, Kydra, Gwen, Bug, Alesha, and Mook 1. Two special sisters, Shameka Wallace and Lydia Clark. 3 bonus Daughters: Crystal Meeks, Shyrayle Gatewood, and Christin Mahone. 1 Best friend Keesha(clay)Hall. And a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will all truly miss her!
