We are saddened to share that Mamie Rainwater passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 71. She was born Mamie Lee County to the parentage of Henry County Sr., and Sadie County (both preceding her in death) on October 15, 1953, in Montgomery, Louisiana.
Throughout her life, she was known for her kindness, quiet strength, and deep love for her family. Mamie had a gentle spirit and a generous heart. She loved spending time outdoors, especially near the water, where she enjoyed fishing and found joy in the simple things - sharing stories, tending to her home, and being with those she loved most.
In her younger years, Mamie met and married Etson Ray Rainwater Jr. on June 15, 1975, and they later had four children. She worked for the Louisiana public school and later moved to Eldorado, Arkansas, where she worked for the Eldorado News Times until her health declined.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Etson Ray Rainwater Jr., her brothers, Jimmy Lee County, Henry County Jr., Polete County, and Robert County; her sisters, Ethel Lee Gilbert, Helen Marie Higgs, Betty Ann County, and Amma Lee County; and a dear friend, Robert Ceaser.
She is survived by her three sons: Jermaine Rainwater, Patrick Rainwater (Kristie), and Michael Rainwater (Shanira), and one daughter, Priscilla Rainwater; 9 grandchildren: LaDarrius Rainwater, Alexis Miller, Jayden Rainwater, Shania Rainwater, Jordan Rainwater, Rayna Rainwater, Shirlishua Wilkerson, Madiya Rainwater, and Xavier Rainwater. She also leaves to cherish her memories two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Higgs and Dowel Gilbert, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
