Lucy Mae Dunwood

July 3, 1929 — November 14, 2020

Sister Lucy M. Dunwood was the firstborn to the late AC and Viola Nunley Palmer.

At an early age, she united with Salem Missionary Baptist Church, and as the family moved to the Mt. Willie Community, she united with the Mt. Wilie Baptist Church. She then married John Henry Blunt, and out of this union, one child, Jennie Blunt was born. Later in life, she united in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. Hilbert Dunwood. She and her husband united with First St. James Missionary Baptist Church, and later united with Union Mission Baptist Church.

Sister Dunwood was a very active and dedicated member of Union Mission Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was in the Mission Ministry, a Deaconess, the kitchen ministry, and many other ministries in the church. She loved Union Mission and all the members dearly. She enjoyed going to church and praising the Lord. She was a praying woman who really loved the Lord. She was always willing to spend time with the youth of the church and talking to them about life experiences. She really enjoyed hearing their choir sing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Hilbert Dunwood, her parents AC and Viola Palmer, her daughter Jenny Wright, four brothers, Willie D. Palmer, Grady Palmer, Rev. Raymond Palmer, and Jerry Palmer.

She leaves to cherish her memory three grandchildren, Richard Wright (Linda), San Antonio, TX, Patricia Wright, Anchorage, AK, and Patrick Wright, Arlington, TX; two sisters, Eula Davis of Wesson, AR, and Ira Mijares, of Los Angeles, CA, and three brothers, Robert Palmer of El Segundo, CA; Floyd Palmer and Charles Ricky Palmer, both of El Dorado, AR.

She also leaves six Great Grandchildren whom she loved dearly; a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and her very special friend Linda Savannah, who was always there.
