Louise Byrd

October 13, 1933 — March 31, 2020

Louise (Allen) Byrd was born October 13, 1933 in Summerfield, Louisiana. She was the youngest out of 10 children of the late Reverend Ed and Mrs. Lillie Mae (Love) Allen.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. James C.M.E. Church in Summerfield, Louisiana where she remained faithful and a supportive member; always giving and assisting with anything the church needed.

She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Joe Byrd on December 5, 1955. They were married for over 44 years until Joe was called home to be with the LORD. They were blessed to love and raise one child Stevie Byrd.

Louise was blessed by God to be a special angel to her family, friends and strangers. Spending many days and countless nights, traveling up and down the road just to be by their side. The Byrd’s household was always open for anyone that needed someone to listen, talk with, or a place to stay.  She would welcome you with her lovely smile. She had a heart of pure gold, always trying to do her best caring for love ones. If you were hungry, she would feed you, willing to give what every she had. Even in her sickness, she would still ask about her family and friends.  Love consumed her until she breathed her last breath. If you want to know her legacy: “Love is her Legacy”.

One of her favorite past times was spending time with her husband, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends. She loved going to church, listening to music, cooking, baking, traveling, fishing, watching sports, card games, dominos, concerts, stage plays and the television show Family Feud with Steve Harvey. In addition, she worked many years as the Secretary-Bookkeeper of the family owned business Little Rock Auto Sales.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Byrd, mother and father, Rev. Ed and Lillie Mae (Love) Allen, four sisters Mrs. Mary L. Levingston, Mrs. Norsie L. Terrell, Mrs. Rosie N. Allen, Mrs. Theo Bailey and five brothers Ever Allen, Rev. Governor Allen, Eddie H. Allen, Rev. Vizer Allen and Lovet Allen Sr.

Louise made the transition to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 31st, 2020 in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. She strongly believed in prayer and God’s will.  Because of that she leaves none to mourn but only to cherish her memory. Her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. Stevie S. Byrd and Mrs. Cristal V. Byrd of New Braunfels, Texas; one granddaughter, Ms. Shuntavia D. Wimby (Daughter of Renee’ Stokes) Pflugerville, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be at Sims Mortuary Chapel at the Cross Saturday May 30, 2020, at 1:00p.m. Interment will be at Mt. Sinai Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary
