Rev. Levi Tolefree

November 9, 1927 — December 16, 2021

Along his Christian journey, Rev. Tolefree, with his wife, Mrs. Ruth Tolefree, by his side, continued to be humbled. When he accepted his calling of God, he knew they would no longer be able to serve their church, Quinn Chapel AME Church, as they did before their mission. For this reason, he decided that a special time would be set aside to return once a year and give back, along with spreading the God News and letting their Quinn Chapel Church Family know that they were continuing on the "Battlefield for the Lord!" The fourth Sunday in February of each year was earmarked as the "Rev. and Mrs. L. V. Tolefree Homecoming Celebration" and continued for 63 years. However, the Quinn Chapel Church Family decided during the 57th year of the "Rev. and Mrs. L.V.Tolefree Homecoming Celebration," the church would show its love by giving back in the observance of a combined Homecoming/Appreciation Service. This year, February 28, 2021, although virtual, the Quinn Chapel AME Church Family celebrated the "7th Appreciation Service honoring the 63rd Annual Homecoming of Rev. and Mrs. L. V. Tolefree."

Rev. Tolefree was also employed by the Georgia-Pacific Plywood Mill and retired after 35+ years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister - Vera Washington; three brothers - Mark Tolefree, Jack Tolefree, and Leon Tolefree; a grandson - Chad Tolefree; and two (2) great-grandsons.
