Leonard Finley, Jr., affectionately known as "Flipmode," was born on February 16, 1976, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to the late Myra Finley and Leonard Finley, Sr.
During his youth, Flipmode developed a love for the game of basketball, which inspired him to take advantage of every opportunity to showcase his skills. Whether he was playing basketball at the Boys and Girls Club, in the Douglas neighborhood, or competing in "Hoop Fest" tournaments, he was always ready-with a ball in his hand and victory on his mind.
In 1994, he welcomed his first child, Kizza. Shortly after graduating from El Dorado High School in 1995, he welcomed his second child, Tyler. He later attended barber college, turning his skill into a profitable hobby that he truly enjoyed, all while awaiting the birth of his third child, Yasmine. Cutting hair, playing dominoes, listening to music, dancing, and convincing everyone that the Lakers were the greatest team ever became some of his favorite pastimes outside of fatherhood. He was also a jersey and shoe enthusiast who loved buying customized jerseys and the latest Jordans for his children.
He joined the workforce with his first and only employer, El Dorado Paper Bag, where he worked for several years. After leaving Paper Bag, he began helping his father, "Tip," at the local neighborhood store, Myra's Groceries. He later met the love of his life, Casandra, and they were united in marriage in 2022. He cherished the moments they shared on yearly family trips during spring and summer breaks. Together, they treasured the time spent with their blended family, including his three children and her three children. Casandra remained faithfully by his side when his health began to decline and stayed with him until his heavenly transition.
He fought a long but courageous battle until April 19, 2026, when the Lord called His faithful child home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myra Finley; grandparents, Cubic and Agnes Finley; and friends/cousins, Quinston Fairley and Semaji Evans.
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Leonard Finley, Sr.; his wife, Cassandra Blackmon; one son, Tyler Finley of Conway, Arkansas; daughters, Kizza Finley of Dallas, Texas, Yasmine Finley of El Dorado, Arkansas, Yoshika Gibson of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Niyokie Maxwell and Jamila Maxwell, both of El Dorado, Arkansas; brothers, Carlos Finley of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Phoenix McHenry of Strong, Arkansas; sisters, Renee Carroll of Kansas City, Kansas, and Treasure Thompson and Nakisha Mason, both of El Dorado, Arkansas. Also left to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of childhood friends.
