Joyce Westbrook

May 4, 1942 — November 7, 2022

Joyce Spivey was born May 4, 1942, to the late Earnest Spivey and Marie Taylor Spivey in Colquitt, LA.

Joyce's family moved to ElDorado, AR, when she was a young girl. She attended Fairview School and Booker T. Washington High School.

Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, she became a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and later found a church home at Douglas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

In 1959, Joyce married Sammie Lee Miles, and seven children were born to that union. They were married for ten years.

Joyce's beauty and charisma later caught the attention of Curtis Westbrook. On April 2, 1988, they were married. They spent 27 years together until his death in 2015.

Joyce worked at ConAgra for a short time. She also worked domestically in private homes, and in her later years, she worked as a caretaker.

Joyce was a very beautiful lady, full of personality and charisma. She never met a stranger. Joyce loved to dress in all the latest fashions. She loved to dance and listen to the blues. She enjoyed walking, and it wasn't uncommon to see her walking across town. Most of the time, if you stopped, she would turn a ride down. Joyce was known for her culinary skills, and to her children and grandchildren, no one could cook like her. On any given Sunday, you could find them all gathered at her house, enjoying some of her best dishes. Joyce was dedicated to her family and shared a special love and relationship with each of her offspring.

On November 7, 2022, Joyce departed this earthly home and found her final resting place with her heavenly Father.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Westbrook, parents, Earnest and Marie Spivey; one sister, Robbie Charles; seven brothers Earnest Jr., Willie Earl, Clarence, Melvin, Jessie, Dewayne, and Robert Spivey; one grand-daughter, LaVecchia Franklin.
