Joshua Brock

Joshua Jaivyn Brock was born September 15, 1995, to Kendra D. Ganter Brock and Donald R. Brock. He was the first of three boys and the oldest of four siblings. He fell asleep in death on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at his home in El Dorado, AR.

Joshua entered the world full of energy and curiosity. His smile was infectious, and his laugh produced the cutest little dimples! That never changed! Throughout his lifetime, he adopted many nicknames or variations of his name from family members and friends alike. To many, he was known as "Josh," "Jay," or "Jaivyn." There was also the last name reference of merely "Brock" or the initials "JJB." No name was as special as the nickname "Turnip" given to him by his Aunt Loucille!

Josh shared a special affection for two women in his life. Many knew the depth of his love for these two women because their names were tattooed on his neck. "Kendra" was listed on the left, and "Velma" was listed to the right. Those tattoos would later serve as an identifying mark for him, as many would reference him as "the son with your name tattooed on his neck"!

Josh made a name for himself in the sport of football. He possessed prodigious skills and began his journey in youth football at an early age. Starting with primary school, his football passion carried him through his high school years. His talent aided the team in winning the State Championship from 2009-2011! An amazing running back in his own rite, he made #27 sought after by upcoming family and friends! Joshua graduated from El Dorado High School in 2013. Although he left the game of football behind, he maintained the skills that teamwork provided.Concentrating on some of his other talents, Joshua acquired his CDL in August 2019 and experienced the open road as a truck driver for a while. Being somewhat of an introvert by nature and a very deep thinker, time on the highway allowed him to analyze various aspects of his life. He found his passion for employment when he joined the UPS team in October 2019! As a UPSer, he later expressed that he would "retire" from working there! So many of his customers will miss his "Special Deliveries," which included that infectious smile and even some encouraging conversations. The company awarded him with the Recognition of Excellence ~ Committed to Exemplary Performance and the Certificate of Recognition for their appreciation for his years of Safe Work last year.

Because so many truly adored him, people may not have understood that Josh hated the spotlight and would often withdraw from anything that would bring too much attention. He was known to overanalyze situations that concerned his close-knit family and friends. Compassionate and caring are words that come to mind when describing his nature. Since he had experienced being bullied, he would not tolerate it from others. Kindheartedly he aided others, always willing to help without recognition.

If you were fortunate enough to get to know him, you received a dose of his sense of humor! You could expect a laugh whenever he was present! He would often find a way to make light of any situation, even if it meant he had to do some teasing in the midst of it! His future was no laughing matter to him, as he anticipated acquiring his credentials to become a licensed barber.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to "ole school music" and unbeknownst to many and because of his modesty, possessed a lovely singing voice. Josh was passionate about "ole school cars' and was in the beginning stages of starting his own collection. He was known for his weekly "fresh fade and beard trim," preparing him for the upcoming week. Most importantly, Josh was aware of his spiritual needs. He enjoyed discussing the Bible with co-workers, family, and friends. He was interested in unpacking and discussing Bible prophecies and could recite many. He recently expressed his desire to begin his weekly study of the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses.

His love for his family did not go unnoticed, nor did his love for people and his willingness to assist. Josh cared deeply for and loved his younger brothers. He tried hard to live up to the "Big Brother" role. He did his best to protect them and was developing the same bond with his younger sister. That protective spirit was evident in so many areas of his life. It can only be imagined the many seeds he planted as we continue to reap the rewards from the countless actions he left behind to be recited to his family for years to come!

Josh was proceeded in death by his father, Donald R. Brock, Grandfathers, William L. Brock & Clifford D. Levingston, paternal great grandparents, and maternal great grandparents Ruthie Mae Ford and Arther Ford, who both played such an important part in his upbringing, Godmother, Vemetric S. Foster, and other special aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles as well as cousins.

Joshua leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Kendra D. Brock; grandmothers Velma R. Levingston and Joyce M. Brock; brothers Justin J. Brock and Jase J. Brock; sister Jazlyn J. Simmons; special cousin Kidada Cobb; close friend Najee Rogers; and a host of aunts, uncles, family, co-workers, customers, and friends.
