Joe Hill

With love and gratitude for a life well lived, Joe Ree Hill, a devoted son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, spouse, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 69 on April 4, 2026, at St. Vincent in Little Rock, AR, surrounded by his children and loved ones.

Joe was born on November 15, 1956, to the proud parents, Dewrie Buggs and Liddie Buggs.

Joe was married to Velma Hill, with whom he had three lovely children: Yolanda, Demetria, and Joseph Hill.

Joe accepted Christ at a young age. He worked for Pilgrim's Pride for over 20 years until his health failed. He loved listening to blues, playing dominoes, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewrie and Liddie Buggs; the love of his life, Velma Hill; brothers, Dewrie Raye Buggs Sr. and Lonnie T. Phillips; sisters, Odie Faye Smith and Annie Buggs; one son, Vontonier Fletcher; and one great-grandson, Malachi Hill.

Joe is survived by his loving children, Yolanda (Gerald) Hill of Junction City, AR; Demetria (Randy) Hill and Joseph (Shandall) Hill, both of El Dorado, AR; and Tiffany Hill of Hot Springs, AR.

His brothers, Donnie Buggs of Ruston, LA; Jessie Buggs of Summerfield, LA; Howard Pete (Cynthia) Buggs and Charles Buggs, both of El Dorado, AR; Wallace (Gloria) Buggs of Camden, AR; and James (Cynthia) Buggs of Conway, AR.

His sisters, Betty Jean (Hardy) Buggs and Lesha Buggs, both of Summerfield, LA; Patsy Pitts of Haynesville, LA; Alice Faye Calloway of El Dorado, AR; and Addie Bell of Chicago, IL.

He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
