Jo Ann Montgomery

October 16, 1948 — September 10, 2022

Jo Ann Finley Montgomery was born on October 16, 1948, to Cubie Sr. and Agnes Finley in El Dorado, Arkansas. On Saturday, September 10, 2022, Jo Ann transitioned from this life to her heavenly home to be with The Lord.   Her children and grandchildren surrounded her as she peacefully drifted to an eternal sleep where she joined all the saints of the ages to sit at the feet of Jesus and be blessed.

Jo Ann was one of 13 siblings who lived her early life in El Dorado and eventually moved to California for a period of time. She returned to El Dorado to continue rearing her children and to be close to her beloved mother. In 1971, she married then United States Army serviceman Jesse B. Montgomery. Jo Ann worked at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in labor and delivery for over 30 years.

Jo Ann united with Douglas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church as a child and fellowshipped with Douglas Chapel into early adulthood. For many years, she attended churches with her family members as a way of supporting and showing her love. In the final season of her life, she fellowshipped with and sought spiritual guidance at Morning Star Baptist Church #2.

Jo Ann loved and lived her life in her own unique way; she enjoyed cooking and feeding her family and close friends and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings.

She lived a life that will forever keep her family smiling and laughing because she was one of a kind!

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her father, Cubie Finley Sr., her mother, Agnes Pierce Finley, her beloved daughter, Jozette Caver Johnson; her beloved grandson, JaBryant Johnson, son-in-law, James Johnson, her great-grandson, JaTavious Marquette Jones; her brothers: Charles Finley and Cubie Finley Jr., her sisters: Ollie Faye Finley, Artie Mary Finley Thompson, Jeanette Finley Kilgore, Emma Finley Carey, and Doris Jean Finley Brice.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two brothers, Leonard Finley Sr, and Robert Finley (Pateria), three sisters, Carolyn Finley Evans (James), Gwendolyn Finley Jones of Little Rock, AR, and Alice Carter, and two daughters, Jacqueline Finley and Jessica Montgomery (Thompson) of Jacksonville, AR, two sons, Kinji Montgomery (Shameka), Frederick Daniels (Nicole) of N. Little Rock, AR, two granddaughters, Agneshia Edmondson and Gabriella Montgomery, two grandsons, Jadonnavin Traylor and Kinji Montgomery Jr., two great-grandchildren, Genesis Gray and Nehemiah Lawson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
