Jessie McClelland

Jessie Lenora McClelland was born July 4, 1957, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Leona Ozarean Phillips McClelland and Robert Thomas McClelland. She departed this life on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at her residence.

She claimed her faith in Christ at an early age at the New Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a lifetime member. She sang in the choir, worked with the youth in the church, assisted as a Sunday school teacher, and was the Sunday school secretary for more than 20+ years.

She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1975 and attended South Arkansas Community College and the University of Texas at Arlington. She was a paraprofessional for the El Dorado School District for many years, where she enjoyed working with children. She was also a member of the Fairview Social & Arts Club, Omega Pearl Association, and many other community service organizations.

She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren, dancing, shopping, collecting figurines, and interacting on social media with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert Thomas McClelland and Leona Ozarean Phillips.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one son Derrick Sherrod McClelland of Arlington, Texas, and one daughter Carmea' Chantel Ramey (Joseph) of El Dorado, Arkansas; two sisters LaQuita Gayle McClelland of Houston, Texas, and Joyce Crossley of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers Robert Thomas McClelland, Jr., of Houston, Texas and Lonnie McClelland of Little Rock, Arkansas; two granddaughters Mikayla Rodkelle Moody and Clarissa Jomea Ramey and her New Bethel Church family along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a loving community at the Vineyards apartments.
