Jerry “J Hound” Ford was born on August 9, 1950, in El Dorado, AR to JC Ford and Dorothy Finely Ford. He accepted Christ at an early age, and he was a faithful member and greeter at Victory Church until his health failed him. He attended Washington High School until the 10th grade. He joined the United States Army on April 17, 1970, where he served in the Vietnam War, he earned several medals and awards for his service until his honorable discharge on December 13, 1971. He also worked at Amercable starting October 1979 in El Dorado, AR for 30 years until his retirement in June 2009 as an Extruder Operator.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Ford; father, JC Ford; sister, Mary Middle; and brother, Harold Ford.
Jerry’s memories will be cherished by his wife, Velisa Ford of El Dorado, AR, two daughters Doris Ann Ford of Camden, AR, and German Lewis (James) of Eastpointe, Michigan; one son Karsten Hicks of Austin, TX; three sisters, Dorothy Ann McKinney of El Dorado, AR; Jerline Tatum of Dallas, TX; Elizabeth Miles (Ricky) of El Dorado, AR; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one special friend Maurice Harris of Urbana, AR, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Public Visitation will be Friday July 17, 2020 3:00 pm -5:00 pm at Sims Mortuary. Funeral Service Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m, at Victory Church, Interment will be at Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. Sign the guestbook at www.simsmortuary.com
