Jerry D. Gordon

September 9, 1955 — March 18, 2020

On September 9, 1955, Jerry was born to the late Tommy Gordon and Essie Lee Frazier Gordon in Camden, AR. Jerry was number eight of twelve siblings, so as you can imagine he grew up in a home full of loud and fun pranks, chores, and sibling rivalry. But most importantly he grew up in a home full of undeniable love rooted in the word of God. From this teaching, he joined Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until his health began to fail, and he was unable to attend.

Jerry attended and graduated from Fairview High School in Camden, AR. He was a natural runner and excelled in track and field during his school years. In 1973 his senior year, he qualified for the US Olympic track and field tryouts in Los Angeles, California.

After high school, as Jerry began carving out his way in life, it seems the whole world was shifting toward electronics, computers, and office jobs. But Jerry was one of a unique class of people who loved God’s great outdoors and working with his hands. This led to a lifelong career in the construction field.

Psalm 128:2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife and mother of his sons, and bonus daughter Lois Buffington Gordon. “To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness, and in health, until death do us part”.

“Do not shed tears when I have gone, but smile instead because I have lived”.

Those Jerry leave to cherish his memory and carry on his genuine unconditional loving spirit are his sons Wayne Gordon (Terri) of Camden, AR, Phillip Gordon (Felicia) of Dumas, AR, bonus daughter  Chandria Buffington, of Camden, AR, ten grandchildren: Karrington Gordon, Chaysen Gordon, Chantz Gordon, Markaileon Ricks, Bry’Keileon Alsup, Ayana Dishroom, Javier, and DeAndre Buffington, Charanda Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Eleven siblings; sisters Jeanette Elliott (Ira) of Mt.
