Jeanette Gordon Elliott was born on November 17, 1940, in Camden, Arkansas, to the late Tommy and Essie Frazier Gordon. The Lord called her to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 10, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by her family.
At an early age, Jeanette united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Louann, Arkansas. She later became a charter member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and devoted member. She attended worship services every Sunday until the time of her transition.
Jeanette was educated in the Lafayette School District and graduated with the Class of 1959. She always looked forward to Lafayette school reunions, where she enjoyed fellowshipping and reminiscing with her childhood classmates.
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." - Genesis 2:24
"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing." - Proverbs 18:22
On February 3, 1962, Jeanette was united in holy matrimony to Ira "Buddy" Elliott, Jr. Their union was blessed with four children.
Jeanette was truly one of a kind, with a heart for serving and giving to others. Her home was always open and welcoming to family, as well as to her children's childhood friends, whom she embraced with love and hospitality. She took the saying, "Cleanliness is next to godliness," to heart and lived by it daily.
Jeanette took great pride in maintaining a meticulous home and was equally particular about her personal appearance. She carried herself with grace, dignity, and a sense of pride that reflected the beautiful person she was, both inside and out.
Jeanette loved her family deeply and took great pride in preserving her family's history, tracing her roots back several generations. Family was at the very heart of who she was. Her greatest legacy and proudest accomplishment were watching her children grow into productive, responsible adults who loved the Lord and understood the importance of putting family first. The values she instilled in them-faith, love, service, and devotion to family-will continue to live on for generations to come.
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts."
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ira Elliott; her parents, Tommy and Essie Frazier Gordon; her son-in-law, Rubin Ervin; and her brother, Jerry Gordon.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Reginald Elliott (Leah) of Shreveport, Louisiana; her daughters, Cynthia Ervin of Mount Holly, Arkansas, Sophia Broadnax (Michael) of Arlington, Texas, and Bridgette Harris (Michael) of Katy, Texas; her grandchildren, Brandon Harris (Chelsea), Brad Hall (Angela), Saxton Hall (Yasmine), Chelsey Lippman (Justin), Julian Carrera-Harris (Janera), Jordan Harris, Justin Ervin (Paige), Jasmine Ervin, Michael Ervin, and Ja'Kayon Ervin; her great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Harris, Cassidy Harris, Brooklyn Harris, Charley Harris, Brandon Harris, Jr., Aubrey Hall, Arial Powell, Aniya Powell, and Parker Hall; her brothers, Tommy Gordon (Bobbie), George Gordon, Leon Gordon (Sharon), and Orlando Gordon; her sisters, Margaret Highsmith (Fred), Mattie Goodwin, Beatrice Sidney, Inez Stith, Lavern Gordon, and Cassandra Fernandez; her special cousins, John and Darnell Elliott of Mount Holly, Arkansas, and Thomas Hayes and John Henry Haynes of El Dorado, Arkansas; her sisters-in-law, Vivian Halton of Buffalo, New York, Brenda Clark of Atlanta, Georgia, and Helen Marie McNeil of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jeanette's legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to family will continue to inspire generations to come. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
