Helen Ruth Malone

On the morning of December 30th, 2019, Helen Ruth Phillips Malone passed away peacefully at the Central Veterans Hospital in Little Rock with family by her side. Helen was 66 years old.

Helen was born November 6th, 1953, in the Mt. Willie Community to Luther E. and Felix Phillips; she was the third oldest of six children.

Helen is a 1972 graduate of Parker’s Chapel High School. After graduation, she proudly served in the United States Army starting March 17, 1975, and was honorably discharged due to injury on March 1st, 1976.  After serving in the army, she would meet and marry Michael Malone in 1982. During their time together, they welcomed their first and only child, Melissa, on December 25th, 1983.

To Helen, the family was most important. She was most happy when the family was with her. She enjoyed playing her word games, had a fondness for animals, enjoyed sewing, reading, and making large holiday dinners with family. Helen had a big heart for all things in life, especially helping others, and she always had a positive attitude and a contagious laugh.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents and sibling, Luther E. Phillips, Felix McCree Phillips, and Luther Phillips Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa Malone. Brother, Terence Earl Phillips. Sisters, Evelyn Jane Phillips, Sharon Kay Nelson, Elizabeth Ann Phillips Thomas, as well as very special Nieces, Nephews, and dear friend.

Public Visitation Thursday, January 9, 2020, from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., Funeral service will be Saturday, January 11, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Willie Baptist Church. Interment will be at Mt. Willie Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. Sign the guestbook at www.simsmortuary.com.
