Flynn J. Barnes III, of Murrieta, California, formerly of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2026, at the age of 54.
Born on July 22, 1971, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to the late Flynn J. Barnes II and Patsy Barnes Menon, Flynn lived a life defined by honor, service, faith, and love for his family. From an early age, he demonstrated the character and determination that would shape his remarkable life and military career.
Flynn proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years, including more than 50 combat tours, and retired as a First Sergeant. Throughout his distinguished military career, he exemplified the Marine Corps values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, leading Marines with integrity, discipline, and compassion. His leadership and dedication earned him the respect of those who served alongside him, and his impact extended far beyond his years in uniform.
Following his military service, Flynn remained committed to serving others through mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support of family, friends, and his community. He was known for his strength of character, generous heart, infectious sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need. Above all, Flynn was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with those he loved.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kaih Barnes of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sadio Barnes of Miami, Florida; two sisters, Tracy L. Barnes and Kenya D. Barnes, both of El Dorado, Arkansas; his special friend, Michelle Caston of Temecula, California; his bonus children, Christian Maitland of Huntsville, Alabama, and Broderick Dumas of Temecula, California; his grandson, Braxton Dumas of Temecula, California; his nieces, Cornecia Williams-Sheppard, Coriell Sheppard, Sasha Barnes, and Jada Miller; his nephews, DeAndre Sheppard, Corderrick Dixon, Trecorve Jackson, Markayleo James, and Keontae Larry; thirteen great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of extended family members, fellow Marines, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Flynn J. Barnes II and Patsy Barnes Menon; his paternal grandparents, Flynn J. Barnes Sr. and Perliane Williams; and his maternal grandparents, Roy Menon and Hazel Menon Watkins.
Flynn's legacy of faithful service, strong leadership, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his example and the memories he created will remain a lasting source of inspiration.
