Flossie McPhearson was born November 18, 1934, in Junction City, Arkansas, to Prentis and Rietha Johnson, and she was 1 of 7 children.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Sweet Home Baptist Church in Smackover, Arkansas. Flossie attended the Smackover Training School. She relocated to San Jose, California, to be closer to her brother, Odell Johnson. She joined the St. Paul Baptist Church in San Jose. After over 30 years in California, she relocated back to her hometown, Smackover, Arkansas.
Flossie was known for her delicious meals and feeding her community; she was always known for her willingness to help others. She loved to fish and could eat fresh fish every day. Her friends and neighbors knew her love for fish, so when she could no longer go fishing, they brought fish to her. One of her other hobbies was gardening; she grew tomatoes and vegetables.
Flossie loved her family dearly; every year, she wanted all the family to come home together for a family reunion. She loved and enjoyed spending that time with family and friends. Everyone loved coming to see her. When you visited with her, she would always want you to stay awhile; upon leaving, she would always walk you to the door.
As Flossie entered her golden years, she and her two sisters, Sleta and Carleta, were known by family and friends as the Golden Girls. They loved spending time together because they were sisters and best friends.
Flossie's four brothers, Lovell Johnson, Odell Johnson, Elkin Johnson, and James Johnson, all preceded her in death. She had one son, Tameyo Johnson, who also preceded her in death. One special Sister, Tina Nelson Bendy, also preceded her in death.
Flossie leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Gwendolyn Johnson of Livermore, California, Genettia Pollins of Garland, Texas, and Regina Thompson of Smackover, Arkansas.
