Eddie Cliff Meeks

Eddie Cliff Meeks was born on September 11, 1958, in Sparkman, Arkansas, to the late Sammy Meeks and Pearlie Wilson Candley. He was the third of six children.

At an early age, Eddie confessed his faith in Christ in Sparkman, Arkansas, and united with First Baptist Church. Eddie received his early education in Sparkman. In 1971, at the age of 12, Eddie and his family moved to El Dorado, Arkansas. At the young age of 20, under the guidance of his brother Michael, he began driving an 18-wheeler. He continued his career as a truck driver until his passing. Cliff was employed with Woodfield of Camden, Arkansas.

Cliff was very energetic and loved gathering with family and having fun with friends. He loved horses, and his favorite horse was named Sassy. He considered himself a "blues man" and never met a stranger. He cherished moments spent with his family and truly enjoyed driving his 18-wheeler. He loved doing things his way.

Eddie was preceded in death by his father; one son, James Glover; two daughters, Angela Marbray and Janet Marbray-Jones; three sisters, Pearl Reed, Ester Meeks, and Ruth Candley-McElroy; four brothers, LeeRoy Meeks, Tommy Candley, Micheal Candley, Sr., and James Candley; his maternal grandparents, Lucille Wilson and Alber Wilson; his paternal grandparents, Laura Meeks and Cliff Meeks; one granddaughter, Ashley Bell; and one grandson, DeVontre Marbrary.

On September 13, 2026, the Lord called Eddie home.

He leaves to carry on his legacy his loving wife, Carolyn Donald-Meeks; three sons, Makwo Williams, Inshiqaq (Pedro) Qiyama, and Delvis Qiyama; his stepchildren, Christopher Swillie, Deborah (Hugh) Thompson of Radcliff, Dieresha Smith, Cedgerae (Kimberly) Smith, Lance Williams, Avery Donald, Anthony (Mya) Donald, and Octavia Johnson; his mother, Pearlie Candley; his mother-in-law, Lula Mae Johnson; sisters, Joyce Candley, Janice Culp, Laura Meeks, Shelia Candley-McGhee, Valerie Candley-Lumsey, and Sonya Smith; brothers, Dennis Meeks, Avery Meeks, Kelvin Candley, Steven Candley, Kenneth Candley, and Willie Candley; two brothers-in-law, Henry Johnson and Antonio Smith; two sisters-in-law, Consandra Johnson and Regina Cunningham; special cousin-in-law, Buford (Gail) Robinson; special friends, Bobbie Betters, Romeo Carson, Janice Meeks, and Willie Washington; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
