Dottie Benton

June 12, 1941 — February 16, 2022

Dottie was born June 12, 1941, to the union of Harris J. Payne Sr. and Ceola Johnson Payne of Huttig, Arkansas. She attended school in Huttig- Strong School District.

She later moved to Saginaw, Michigan, in 1968 and worked for general motors car manufacturing for about 15 years. In 1986 she moved back to El Dorado, Arkansas, and worked in the El Dorado School District for about 17 years until her retirement in 2005.

She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church Huttig, Arkansas, where she was a member of the Adult Choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband Theodis Benton of 35 years of marriage and one son Antonio Benton, a sister Creola Payne, a brother Isadore Payne, and both of her parents.

She leaves to cherish wonderful memories to her daughter, Michelle (Charles) Honeycutt of El Dorado, her son, Percelle Freeman of Crossett, Arkansas, one grandson, Charles II (Enjoli) Honeycutt of Houston, Texas. Two brothers, Harris J (Kiel) Payne Jr. and LA Horis Ray Payne, eight sisters, Lovie D. Andrews, Ida (John) Craig, Joyce (George) Mitchell, Lille Govan, LA Doris Mae Payne, Barbara (Frank) Payne, Leatrice (Edward) Clayton, Virginia McDaniel, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
