Dorothy Mae Owens-Harper was born in Junction City, Ar, on January 22, 1939, to Wallace Sams Sr. and Mattie (Mammie) Owens. Dorothy departed this world surrounded by her family on January 23, 2021.
Dorothy gave her life to Christ at a very early age. She was the eldest of five children on her mother's side, with four girls and one boy. On her father's side with one brother and one sister. Dorothy began her education journey attending school in Junction City, Ar, to later be moved to Smackover, Ar, where she graduated 12th grade at Smackover Trade School in May of 1959. Shortly after graduating, a young gentleman named Marion Harper mesmerized her, and they became one on September 17, 1959. From this union, eight children are born Valerie, Vicky, Marion Jr., Christoper, Carol, Debra, Ronald, and Gladys.
Dorothy devoted her life to raising her children and rearing her grandchildren. Dorothy's greatest enjoyment of life is when she had all her children, grand children, great-grandchildren together under one roof. All the love, laughter, and screaming babies gave her heart so much joy to know that we all have been created from her and Paw Paw.
Dorothy began her professional career as a Supervisor, which in later years turned to Manager of Environmental Services at Union County Medical Center, in which she proudly served for 30 years until her retirement.
