Donald Brock

Donald Ray Brock was born to Joyce Marie and the late William Lee Brock on October 19, 1974, in New Orleans, LA, where he spent much of his childhood. On Thursday, March 14, 2024, he reunited with his loved ones who had transitioned before him on the other side. Surely, he was welcomed by his father, maternal and paternal grandparents, along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. No doubt, his Aunt Bert was waiting with open arms for him!

Donald moved to El Dorado during his teenage years and planted roots here, which made this city his home. He graduated from high school and didn't look back. Although Donald never lost his New Orleans accent, Arkansas crept into his soul. He developed relationships that would sustain him through his adulthood. Some called him Donald; some called him D. Ray; many referred to him as Brock, and those who have known him since childhood still knew him as "Duck." No matter what name you knew him by, you knew he had a personality that would not quit!

Brock not only had many names, but he also had many talents! Being a barber was a family trait. As a teenager, he honed his skills at his aunt & uncle's home. His initial trademark was using a belt to help him tighten up a fade! He didn't remain an amateur. He went on to graduate from Barber College and open his barbershop. He helped many of the new barbers in the city get their start. He never lost his "magic" touch, even when he went on to pursue other employment opportunities. No one could cut like him! Former customers still sought him out!

D. Ray was established as a barber shop owner when he decided to go to college and pursue higher education. He did well as a college student as it was a dream deferred. Along with that endeavor, he was also employed in other industries, including a short stint at Walmart and several years at AmerCable-Nexans. He made that blue uniform trendy as only he could! No matter what his occupation was, he excelled! He was a good worker and very knowledgeable of a gamut of skills.

He had many hobbies showcasing his love for life and working with his hands. Over the years, he had his dad, uncles, family members, and friends who introduced him to various things, including working on cars and home repairs. He enjoyed riding horses and even owned a few over the years. Being a bit of a cowboy, he could dress the part! From his childhood, he loved cars and even collected quite a few. He could drive anything and was known to have all types of trucks. Some were a "work in progress," but he loved the challenge of working on them. If you ever visited his home, you might find some of the projects in the living room! Because he loved to eat, he was also a pretty good cook! At family gatherings or any event that included food, it was always one of the standing jokes to watch him bless his food and not look up for a while as he enjoyed it! Brock was also the "life of the party" with his dance skills and the energy he brought to the dance floor! When his favorite songs played, he was known to sing along as he "got his groove on"! His laughter made his eyes light up and could fill a room. And his comic deliveries always made him the center of attention!

We will mourn the loss of our family member and friend, but none as much as his mother, Joyce Brock; his devoted wife, Andreka Brock; his sons, Joshua Brock, Justin Brock, Jase Brock; his daughter, Jazlyn Simmons; his bonus sons, Brennan Caver, Brian Jones, Braylon Caple; his siblings, Adam Brock, Ryenn Brock, Terrance Dunn, La Chandra Thomas (Ricco) and Sasha Williams(Vernon) and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, especially his Aunt Bessie taking on the role of a second Mom, and countless friends, former customers, coworkers and associates.
