George Holly was born on March 17, 1960, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Jerline Griffin Holly and Fonnie Lee Holly Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings: Elsie Ree Coleman, Mary Lou Morgan, Betty Jean Gatson, Jerry Wayne Holly, Gregory Charles Holly, and Larry Griffin.
George was a deeply loved man, cherished by his family and the St. John community. He graduated from Farmerville High School, Class of 1978. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, proudly serving for 30 years. He also dedicated 30 years of service to ConAgra before retiring in 2008 due to health issues.
A faithful and devoted member of St. John for more than 40 years, George served diligently on the usher board, finance committee, brotherhood, as a van driver, janitor, and deacon. His faith remained strong throughout his life, especially during his long and courageous battle with illness from 2008 until 2026. On February 14, 2026, God called him home. He passed peacefully, surrounded by love.
George was married to his beloved wife, Barbara Holly, for 42 wonderful years. Their marriage was a testament to love and devotion, standing strong through sickness and health until his passing. Barbara faithfully cared for him, ensuring he received the proper care he needed until the very end.
He was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the El Dorado Wildcats. He enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes, where he was known for his competitive spirit and playful trash talk. Above all, George loved his family and remained actively involved in their lives and his church community as long as his health allowed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Barbara Holly of El Dorado, Arkansas; his children, Titus Holly (Disheker) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Corie Frazier of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and three grandchildren: Laylon Frazier of Little Rock, Arkansas; LaDarius Newton of Dayton, Ohio; and LaRodrius Terry of Little Rock, Arkansas. His godson is Jamacus Milsap of Ruston, Louisiana. His nieces include Felicia Holly of Ruston, Louisiana; Sharanda Holly of Ruston, Louisiana; Angie Mitchel of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Sharon Jones of Farmerville, Louisiana. He is also survived by his brothers, Nathaniel Griffin and Leonard Holly, along with a host of family members, nieces, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
George Holly's legacy of faith, service, love, and dedication will live on in all who knew and loved him.
