David Hicks of Strong, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at South Arkansas Regional Center on July 17, 2025. Born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1952, in Strong, Arkansas, David brought his own special kind of light into the world - the kind that made people laugh, feel seen, and feel loved.
The son of the late Lee Oliver and Essie Hicks, David was a proud graduate of Oil Belt Vocational School, where he earned degrees in welding and the automotive industry. But school was just the beginning - David wore many hats in his lifetime (and probably had a favorite one he wore daily). He was a man of many talents, a master of his craft, and someone who could fix just about anything - especially with a smile and a good story in hand.
David "kept it real." He was a straight shooter, a hard worker, and a cheerful giver who showed up for others in ways that mattered. Whether he was cracking a joke, lending a hand, or sharing some wisdom, David left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.
He leaves behind a host of family and friends who love him deeply and will carry his memory, his laughter, and his legacy with them always.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
