Christopher D. Hymes was born January 23, 1973, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Ruby Jean Meeks and Larnzoe Hymes. He relocated to Junction City, Arkansas, at a young age. Christopher accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He went on to excel in basketball and football during his high school career. After graduating from high school in 1991, he attended Wiley College in Wylie, TX. In October of 1996, he joined the Army National Guard. He served in Desert Storm and Operation Iraq Freedom. During his enlistment, he received numerous awards for exemplary performance. He graduated from South Arkansas Community College in 2010 with an Associate of Applied Science in General Technology. He was employed with Cooper Tire & Rubber Company and AmerCable. Christopher retired from the military and the workforce in 2009.
He enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, bike riding, and running. Christopher completed a half marathon in Little Rock, AR, in March 2007.
In 2013, he joined Gusher Lodge #560 of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World. Christopher served as secretary and presently loyal knight.
Christopher was a dedicated member of New Olive Branch Baptist Church, where he was a member of the scholarship committee and a dedicated and devoted choir member.
He was the cornerstone of his neighborhood. He would help the elderly with their household chores, take them to their doctor's appointments, and visit them while they were in the hospital and nursing home. He will truly be missed by Ms. Barbara, Mr. and Mrs. Jankowski, Mr. Max, Chris Monk, Richard Dunlap, and the Jennings Family, just to name a few.
Christopher was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Jean Meeks, Larenzo Hymes, and LaFayette (Tom) Meeks.
Christopher departed this life on May 18, 2025, in El Dorado, AR.
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Teresa Hymes of 20 years, his daughter Destanee' Hymes of Houston, TX, his son Caden Hymes of El Dorado, AR. His oldest sister Jackie Meeks of Junction City, LA, his brothers Eric Nathan of Junction City, AR and Jason Hymes of Las Vegas, NV and his youngest sister Arianna Hymes of Las Vegas, NV. Three very special aunts: Augusta Grayson of Junction City, AR, Zelma Ballard of West Monroe, LA and Jessie Hymes of Las Vegas, NV. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
