Charlene "CC" Ross

December 17, 1962 — October 12, 2020

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. ~ 2 Timothy 4:6-7

The Lord graced this earth with an amazing encourager, Charlene Ross, born in El Dorado, AR on December 17, 1962, to her loving parents Charles E and Elizabeth Ross. She was the oldest of three daughters, and she fiercely loved and protected her sisters.

At an early age, Charlene accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at Snow Hill Baptist Church, Smackover, AR. She later joined the Inspiring Body of Christ (IBOC), under the leadership of Pastor Rickie Rush. Charlene was a graduate of Smackover High School. After finishing school, she moved to Dallas, Texas, which she loved. She completed training in Job Corp, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Charlene’s former employment includes Continental Bakery/Wonder Bread Bakery, and lastly, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) where she spent many years driving and where she built long lasting friendships with her co-workers. Although small in stature, she was a skilled driver who could wheel a huge city bus like she was driving a regular size vehicle.

Charlene was always joyful to see those she called family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, camping, barbecuing, watching movies, and reading, especially her bible, which was well worn. She loved music and collected unique knives. She was a charitable person who often did random acts of kindness. She was full of wisdom, opinions, love, and consistently and reliably offered encouragement to anyone in need, especially her family and friends. She was famous for her birthday calendar and called or texted everyone on their special day, as expression of her love for them. Her greatest love was being with her family and friends.

Charlene was known for her pressed, polish, style which included cowboy boots, and unique belt buckles. She was very/overly organized, and everything had a specific place. Charlene always kept her vehicles clean and was strict about the care and maintenance. She was outspoken, and most of all, she was known to do things her way. Charlene was tiny in stature, MIGHTY in love!

Her memories will forever be cherished by her loving parents Charles E. and Elizabeth Ross; two devoted sisters, Tanya (Tony) Meeks, and Belinda Gail Ross; a longtime beloved friend: Devonnia Neal; a Favorite Furry Nephew Pup, Bandit Meeks Ross; Aunts: Earlean Dunn, Smackover, AR; Vera Jones Mt. Holly, AR, Pearlie Brown, Holly Springs, AR; Joann Ross, Inglewood, CA; Joan Ross, Smackover, AR, and Michele Mack, Oakland, CA; Uncles: WC Ross, Freddie (Jewel) Ross, both of Flint, MI, Ben (Effie) Ross, Atlanta, GA; Julius (Gloria) Ross, Flint, Mi; Eddie (Fundia) Ross, El Dorado, AR; James (Eddie Jo) Mack, Dublin, CA; adored godsons Darrick Henry, Walata Henry, Ebedmelech Henry, Asa Henry, Sosthene Henry, and Onesimus Henry, and a host of other relatives, co-workers, and friends who she always kept in touch with.
