Carla was born in El Dorado on September 8, 1985, to the proud parents of Curtis and Margie Welch. She was the second of four siblings, with an older sister, Sherretta, and two younger brothers, Curtis Jr. and Alex. She spent the majority of her childhood in Arkansas but eventually moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where she graduated from Murrah High School.
As a child, Carla was an honor roll student and quite the athlete. She enjoyed soccer, track, and basketball. While growing up, she loved watching her grandmother, Margie, apply makeup, style her hair, polish her nails, and accessorize with jewelry. This fascinated Carla and eventually influenced her interests in beauty and cosmetics.
After graduating from high school, Carla attended Arkansas State University. While continuing her academic journey, she also worked as a pharmacy technician, a career she maintained for 17 years. While still at ASU, she decided to pursue her true passion. She enrolled in and graduated from the Arkansas Academy of Hair Design, becoming a certified cosmetologist. This motivated her to continue developing as an artist with MAC Cosmetics.
During her journey in school, Carla met her future husband, Arnold Coleman Jr. After years of friendship, the two were united in holy matrimony on September 23, 2016. As Carla continued to grow as a professional stylist and makeup artist, so did her family. After marrying in Texas and later relocating to Washington, D.C., their union was blessed with a handsome son, Arnold Joshua Coleman III ("Tre").
After years of success with MAC, Carla was promoted to a role in the city she had dreamed of living in since childhood. Her family moved to Brooklyn, New York, in the fall of 2022. Always a woman of immense faith, she attended Lenox Road Baptist Church. She also used her skills to empower and boost the self-esteem of her clients. Recognizing her calling, these connections gave her the opportunity to share her story and testify to her faith in Christ, inspiring others.
Carla was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Bobby Welch; her maternal grandmother, Margie Louise Davis; and her maternal grandfather, David Davis.
Carla leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Arnold Coleman, and her amazing son, Arnold Coleman III; her mother and father, Curtis Welch and Margie Welch (Tony); her brothers, Curtis Welch and Alex McDaniel Welch; and her sister, Sherretta Smith. She also leaves her paternal grandmother, Catherine Welch, and her maternal grandfather, Royce Jones, along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
