Burney "Pete" Ellis

Bro. Burney "Pete" Ellis was born on December 11, 1925 in Claiborne Parish Louisiana, the son of Scott and Mary Turner Ellis. Saturday, October 28, 2006, Burney was ready for his crown, so he slept peacefully with no pain or suffering into the presence of the Lord. At an early age he united with the St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he remained faithful until his death. He was married to the late Dorothy Ellis. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son, Jeffrey Ellis. Mr. Ellis was a retired custodian of Medical Center of South Arkansas. He leaves to cherish his loving memories; one son, Jonathan Ellis of Little Rock, AR; one daughter, Sonya Webb of Little Rock, AR; one brother, Jimmy L. Ellis of Leporte, Texas; three sisters, Jean Ellis of Leporte, Texas, Louise Turner of San Diego, California and Willie Lee Miller of El Dorado, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Ellis, Brandy Ellis, Justin Ellis, Maya Ellis, Alicia Steward, Marcus Webb, DaMario Webb, and Valaria Webb all of Little Rock, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Steward and Asia Steward of Little Rock, Arkansas; A host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. His church family, St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Homegoing Service will be at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Barry Dobson officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Haynesville, Louisiana under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home, Friday, November 3, 2006 from 9:00am-5:30pm and Saturday, November 4, 2006 from 8:30am-9:30am.
