Leon Brown Robinson

February 21, 1919 — October 7, 2006

Deacon Leon Brown Robinson was born on February 21, 1919 in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of Will and Vera Julks Robinson. On Saturday, October 7, 2006, Leon was ready for his crown, so he slept peacefully with no pain or suffering into the presence of the Lord. On today we celebrate the Homegoing of Deacon Leon Robinson. We say "good-bye" until we meet again to a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and a friend to many who's face was recognizable in the El Dorado area. Leon's mother passed away shortly after his birth. He was raised by his grandmother. Bro. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a sister, Tecora Perry. He joined New Bethel Baptist Church at an early age. As an adult member at New Bethel and later at St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board, Sunday School Teacher, Church Choir and Male Chorus. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife of 55 years, Elsie Robinson of El Dorado, AR; three sons, Rev. James Ford(Dean) of Desoto, TX, Earnest Ford of Maumelle, AR and Jethro Ford of Little Rock, AR; one daughter, Col.Select Marcia Eure(Vince) of Alexandria, VA; a special niece, Vera Perry of Flint, MI; Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A host of Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends. Homegoing Services for Dec. Robinson will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church, El Dorado, AR with the Rev. Barry Dobson officiating. Casketbearers/US Army Honor Guards Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemertery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Friday, October 13, 2006 from 9:00am-5:30pm and Saturday, October 14, 2006 from 8:30-9:30am. The family will receive friends at 803 Louis, El Dorado, AR.
