January 20, 1950 — February 20, 2018

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3 Shirley A. Nelson was born January 20, 1950 to the late Walter Parnell Harris and the late Thelma V. Davis Harris. She was called to rest Tuesday February 20, 2018. She was an outstanding woman, multitalented and full of love, life and compassion. Always willing to open her door or lend a hand where needed and offer a word of advice or encouragement. Highly embraced by others, she lit up a room with her presence and witty personality. Although life took her through many challenges, she stood steadfast in her faith and rose above them. Her resilience, fearlessness and eternal unconditional love was a blessing and will never be forgotten. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Phil and Emma Harris (Paternal). John and Mattie Davis (Maternal)., two sisters Arterine Sherman and Emma Malone, Two brothers Houston Johnson and Charles Harris, 3 nephews; Clay Daugherty, Christopher Malone and Shannon Morris, 1 great nephew; Devon Harris, and 2 great nieces La’Cole Harris and La’Ivyonia Townsend. She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Vincent (Louisa) Nelson, Stephanie Nelson, Teresa (Bobby) Hambright, Natasha Childs (Alvin), and Rodderick (Edna) Davis; one brother, Jerry (Loretta) Cowser; three sisters, Billie Malone, Mary Springer and Sheila (Roland) Waller; 16 Grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4 Public visitation Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with the family hour from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. Services at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Kingdom Hall, 1335 Strong Hwy. Interment in El Bethel Cemetery in Three Creeks under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
