Brother Ivory Lee Slaughter Famous was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on March 22, 1946 to Elizabeth Templeton and Armon Famous. He attended Booker T. Washington High School. He joined the United States Army for a short time. Brother Slaughter Famous enjoyed playing softball in his younger years and was very good at it. He was a good cook and worked at the Old Warner Brown Hospital for a short time as a custodian. In his middle aged years, Brother Famous confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior. He united with Union Mission Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as an Usher for 18 years until his health began to fail. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Helen Foster McGhee, Margaret Gordon, and Linda G. Williams Palmer. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters: Teresa (A.J.) White, Nivea (Albert) Frazier both of El Dorado; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Traylor of Camden, AR; two brothers, Ralph E. Williams of El Dorado and Bruce A. Famous of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Dorothy J. Davis of El Dorado, Mildred F. Williams of Stockton, CA. and DeLois Famous of Fort Deryl, Los Angeles, CA, nine grandchildren, ten great-grand children along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, November 10, 2017 from 12noon-5pm at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Union Mission Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Willis, officiating. Interment at Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
