James D. "JD" Dickerson was born December 14, 1949, the fifth child and baby boy of Girtha (McAlphin) and Cornelius Dickerson in Union County, Arkansas. He grew up as a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where he professed his Christian faith and in later years joined with First Saint James Baptist Church where he attended until his death. JD graduated in 1967 from Washington High School in El Dorado, Arkansas. As a Mighty Hornet he was active in the school choir and popular on campus. After graduation, JD enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served eleven years and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge from military service. JD married Sandra Reynolds, and they were blessed with three children, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A gregarious and fun-loving man, JD enjoyed life to the fullest and maintained an attitude that "everything was copacetic." He also loved music. James D. Dickerson leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sandra Reynolds Dickerson of El Dorado, AR; his brother James W. Dickerson of Bernice, LA; his sisters Ola Nunley of Oakland, CA; Jean Henderson (Howard) of El Dorado, AR; and Geraldine Jackson (Edgar) of Lawndale, CA; his son Rodriguez Reynolds (Camillia) of El Dorado, AR; his daughters Makeba Dickerson Moore of El Dorado, AR and Syreeta Fowlkes (Joseph) of Killeen, TX, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. Public Visitation will be Monday, September 11,2017 from 12 noon.-6:00 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 12, 2017 11:00 am First St. James Baptist Church with Rev.
