Pastor Howard Lee Turner was born to Clayborn and Bertha Root Turner on September 26, 1939 in Carthage, Arkansas. In the early 60’s he met and married his first wife, Willie Mae Turner and after eleven years of praying for children God answered their prayers and blessed them with two. After his first wife passed into the Lord’s embrace, he married Marcia Turner who passed into the Lord’s embrace on February 8, 2016. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Levi Turner and Clayborn Turner and a godson, DeWayne McCraney. Pastor Turner accepted his calling in 1956 evangelizing throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. He was a mighty man of God who loved God’s people. He was a man after God’s own heart. He left a lasting impression on everyone he came into contact with. Through his ministry souls were saved, delivered, healed and set free. He taught and lived by faith. On July 24, 2017, God called him home to take his final rest. He leaves to cherish his memories two children: Velvet Tuner Sims (Darrell) of Tallulah, LA and John Turner (Jennie) of Holland, MI; and eight grandchildren. He also leaves four brothers, Lee Turner of Palm Springs, CO, Robert Turner of Junction City, KS, Jeffery Holiman of Los Angeles, CA, and Tommy Root of Mt. Clair, CA; three sisters, Vergea Walker, Barbara Johnson, Erma McDowell all of Las Vegas, NV, as well as, a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas with Pastor Eichelberger, eulogist.
